Last summer SVP traveled to South America to shoot a one-hour documentary for the Discovery Network. The project was shot in the Atacama Desert in Northern Chile and focuses on the building of the worlds largest observatory made up of four huge telescopes. The observatory, Paranal,is being built by the Europeans as the "European Southern Observatory" with Chile as the host country. "The shoot was a challenge since we lived in the desert for three weeks with very hot tempertures in the day and cold tempertures at night" said Joe LoMonaco. "However, the stark contrast between the dry desert and these four huge telescopes made for some beautiful images. Not to mention the beautiful desert sunsets."
